DB Schenker Extends Support for Rail Transport in Europe

DB Schenker

June 18, 2008

DB Schenker, the international freight forwarder and logistics services provider, has devised an expanded offering of rail services within Europe. The operation known as DB Schenkerrailog offers freight forwarding by rail, along with related services, from a single source. The move establishes rail as a fixed component of Schenker's European logistics services, the company said. Schenker is offering a full range of project-related and cross-carrier transport and logistics. Last year, it handled the movement of more than six million tons of goods over the rails, filling 200,000 freight cars. According to Schenker, customers can benefit from individually conceived routing plans, utilizing block trains and direct train systems. DB Schenkerrailog takes on responsibility for all of the processes involved, from organization of transport to the purchase of freight capacity and final delivery to the recipient. All services, including freight-car scheduling, handling of customs procedures, and pre-carriage and onward carriage to and from origin and destination stations, are available from a single source.
