Apptio, a vendor of hosted software for information-technology management, has launched its Spring Release 2011. The new tool contains a number of new modules and platform enhancements. It is designed to help chief information officers and IT managers forecast demand for IT services. A new Demand & Resource Planning application addresses both the demand and supply side of IT services. Users can select from a catalog of IT services and enter their projected demand over a specified period of time. They can then immediately view their planned bills for selected services, based on such factors as anticipated headcount and expected Web traffic. A Vendor Management module uses IT operational data to track service-level agreements, measure performance and assess satisfaction with vendors and the services they provide. All IT vendors are displayed in a unified view. A new Data Confidence Index automatically highlights gaps in customer data across multiple aspects of data quality, including inference matching, data freshness and costs that are yet to be assigned to a product or service. Apptio's new Transparency Accelerators offer prescriptive guidance on customer best practices.
