Challenge: A global consumer healthcare company needed a 3PL to take over, and then move, its display-building operations into a regional distribution center without impacting productivity. The facility was experiencing rising costs and stagnating continuous improvement results.
Solution: By onboarding experienced leadership, GENCO managed two start-ups in 60 days, first taking over the facility and then embedding operations into the distribution center. Both transitioned and new teammates were immersed into a culture of Lean and continuous improvement, with on-site Six Sigma Black Belts, engineering and human resources support.
Results: On top of a seamless transition and move, the company experienced a 35% jump in productivity over the previous 3PL provider’s standard and saved $1 million in the first year. In 20 of the first 24 months of the contract, productivity levels exceeded 100%. In the end, over 80% of the original employees became GENCO teammates.
