A View to Accuracy: Tools Manufacturer Implements Invaluable Forecasting Solution

Challenge: Our customer manufactures and distributes private label hand tools and related products which are sold at Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, and Pep Boys, among others. In 2009, our customer decided to expand visibility to in-store inventories and improve forecasting and customer service.

Solution: They selected our Trading Partner Intelligence (TPI) Service, and subscribed to SPS' on-demand supply chain management services, including EDI and Scan and Pack to optimize their supply chain and logistics efficiency. Using primarily EDI 852 data, TPI is providing our customer with online access to an executive view of retail sales, timely forecast analyses, trend reports and drillable weekly sales reports.

Results: Prior to using TPI, our customer's forecasts for its retail customers were accurate about 30 percent of the time. Today they have increased forecasting accuracy to 60 percent or better using TPI, with accuracy improving every month.
