Air Menzies International Sets Up Operations in India

Air Menzies International, a global trade-only airfreight and express wholesaler, has set up a new regional division to foster its development in India, and launched its own operation in Mumbai.

The development brings AMI's wholesaling concept to the Indian market for the first time. According to the company, air-cargo consolidation and wholesale activity in India has previously been restricted to co-loading among freight agents. Initially, AMI's Mumbai operation is focusing on airport-to-airport traffic to the company's existing stations in the U.K., U.S. and Africa. AMI India plans progressively to introduce more destinations, along with additional products such as airport-to-door, over the coming months. AMI India will also work to stimulate import traffic to key points in India, from its stations at 21 locations in the U.S., U.K., Europe, South Africa, Far East and Australasia. Breakbulk shipments of imports to cities other than Mumbai will continue to be handled by the existing network of service partners across the country. Once the Mumbai office is fully established, AMI India plans to open further branches in Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
