ALK Partners With Airclic, Issues Maps App and PC-MILER/Rail Update

The CoPilot GPS truck-navigation system of ALK Technologies, Inc. has been integrated into the cloud-based mobile software product line of Airclic.

The tool provides spoken, turn-by-turn directions that account for truck-restricted routes. Drivers can draw on customizable dimensions for vehicle height, length, width and weight to calculate the safest and most reliable route on truck-legal roads. Airclic is a provider of cloud-based applications that help users to manage their mobile supply-chain and logistics operations. Airclic customers can access the CoPilot truck program immediately. In a related development, ALK has made available ALK Maps, an application programming interface (API) for the transportation industry. It allows users to generate multiple commercial routes and geocode locations with a few lines of code. At the core of ALK Maps lies the PC-MILER routing engine. It allows companies to generate accurate routes to ensure the safety of trucks and commercial vehicles. In addition, ALK has released version 19 of its PC-MILER/Rail application, which is geared toward railroads, large rail shippers and railcar lessors. Key applications include fuel-surcharge calculation, car hire, equipment management, railcar mileage auditing, rate determination and negotiation, carrier selection and ad valorem tax reporting.
