Cargomatic Debuts System to Ease Congestion at Southern Calif. Ports

Cargomatic, provider of an app connecting shippers with small-fleet trucking companies, has devised an operating system aimed at alleviating congestion at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, as well as points beyond.

The Cargomatic Free Flow Program allows containers from multiple shippers to be grouped in designated stacks at the ports. The system then alerts pre-vetted carriers when a container from that stack is available, and advises them where to look for it and where it needs to go. Once a shipment is delivered, the Cargomatic app presents the driver with a list of nearby empty containers for the return trip to the port. Cargomatic said it is reviewing a limited number of applications from prospective shippers and carriers who wish to take part in the new program.
