“Year-to-date, sales remain down 5 percent,” said Steve Tam, vice president-commercial vehicle sector with ACT. Tam said that the retail and wholesale markets both contracted month over month, but auctions gained 5 percent month over month. “The average selling price of total reported Class 8 trucks remained at a high level, but was flat relative to July. There remains the real possibility of an upside surprise to our expectation of price appreciation up to 10 percent in 2014,” he added.

In addition the report provides the average selling price for top-selling Class 8 models for each of the major truck OEMs – Freightliner (Daimler); Kenworth and Peterbilt (Paccar); International (Navistar); and Volvo and Mack (Volvo).
