Ecospan Unveils Bioplastic Enclosures for High-Value Shipments

Ecospan has developed a ready-to-use bioplastic shipping enclosure for high-value goods.

The pre-sized container is intended for use in the reverse-logistics operations of retailers and manufacturers. It replaces petroleum-based plastics that are typically used for reverse logistics. Ecospan's BioFlow enclosure cases are designed to withstand up to 15-20 transport cycles, according to the manufacturer. Ecospan claims to have saved more than $21m annually for one global smart-phone client, using the bioplastic technology. The success of that initiative prompted the company to expand its offering of the enclosures to other retailers and manufacturers. The cases are designed to carry valuable items such as handheld devices, mobile phones, GPS consoles and cameras. They are also suitable for use in business-to-business shipping applications between vendors, such as dentists, optometrists and jewelers, Ecospan said. The enclosures are available in three sizes.
