Evergreen in New Vessel-Sharing Pact With MCC Transport

Evergreen Line is entering into a vessel-sharing arrangement with MCC Transport on its Malaysia-Bangladesh (MBS) service, beginning Dec. 16, 2010. The line has been moving cargo to and from Bangladesh by common feeder at Colombo Harbor. The growth of local export and import markets has rendered that option incapable of meeting customers' capacity demands at cost-effective prices, Evergreen said. In launching the MBS service with MCC Transport, it seeks to ensure both longhaul and regional transshipment capacity, as well as shorter transshipment times. The two carriers will each deploy one vessel of 700 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in a 14-day rotation, calling Tanjung Pelepas, Chittagong and back to Tanjung Pelepas.
