Geodis Wraps Up Acquisition of OHL

Geodis has received regulatory approvals needed for finalizing its acquisition of Ozburn-Hessey Logistics (OHL), a third-party logistics provider with annual revenue of nearly $1.3bn.

Founded in 1951, OHL operates more than 120 distribution centers in North America, with more than 36m square feet of warehouse space. It also provides transportation, warehousing, customs brokerage, freight forwarding and import and export consulting services. OHL specializes in the apparel, electronics, healthcare, food and beverage and consumer packaged goods sector. The combined company will have an annual turnover of $8.6bn, with more than 38,000 employees and 165,000 customers. Geodis operates approximately 400 logistics warehouses around the world, in addition to providing freight-forwarding capability and electronic fulfillment expertise. Geodis chief executive officer Marie-Christine Lombard said the deal is a major step in the company’s “Ambition 2018” strategic plan. Randy Curran, chief executive officer of OHL, has joined the Geodis executive committee. “His in-depth knowledge of the U.S. market and global experience will add greatly to our leadership team,” Lombard said.
