Hand Held Products Inc. has developed the newest version of its Dolphin Mobile Computer, the Dolphin 7850. Designed for scan-intensive environments, the unit is meant for retail and warehousing applications, including inventory and price management, shipping and receiving, order picking and cross-docking. It features an integrated pistol-grip handle and large, upward-angled color display for easy viewing while scanning and entering data. The 7850 runs Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0, with integrated Wi-Fi capability. It supports radio-frequency applications continuously for 10 hours or longer, the vendor claimed. Adaptus Imaging Technology 5.0 ensures fast, omni-directional scanning of all barcodes, plus digital image capture and device-configuration capabilities. The 7850 is built to industrial-grade requirements, with a five-foot drop specification and testing to withstand more than 2,000 one-meter drops.
