Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Hosts New IATA Cargo Training Center

Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Ltd. (Hactl) has become the site for the first authorized training center (ATC) to be established by the International Air Transport Association in Hong Kong.

IATA's Training and Development Institute created the training program, which incorporates distance learning and electronic-learning modules, for students looking to upgrade their skills or start new careers in the industry. The courses are delivered in hundreds of classrooms around the world. They lead to internationally recognized certificates or diplomas through IATA's network of ATCs. Operators follow a comprehensive procedure manual, with training staff required to adhere to strict criteria on experience and qualifications. The Hactl ATC, set to go live in the second half of 2012, will provide a wide range of IATA training courses, covering such subjects as dangerous goods, live animals, infectious substances and perishables. Hactl is the major air-cargo handler at Hong Kong's Chek Lap Kok airport.
