How Do You Calculate the Total Cost of Ownership of Sustainability Initiatives?

As formal corporate sustainability efforts become more commonplace, organizations around the globe are struggling to answer the complicated question of just how to consider those impacts. "The good news is that sustainability is quickly becoming normalized, and those operational efficiencies, compliance and risk management benefits are here to stay. But so far, no one has come up with a model to calculate the precise value of the green and social responsibility enhancements," says Stephen Stokes, vice president of sustainability and green technologies at AMR Research. "Stakeholders and shareholders are not going to pay enough attention to sustainability and [corporate social responsibility]  unless we can truly benchmark and define best practices by putting numbers around our efforts."
