In May, it will launch flights from Madrid, Spain to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Flights from London Gatwick to San Jose will depart twice weekly, while the Gatwick-Lima route will offer departures three times a week. Both flights will be served by a British Airways Boeing 777-200ER, with a maximum cargo payload of 18 metric tons. The Madrid-to-San Juan service will operate three times weekly, with an Iberia Airbus A330-200, offering a cargo payload of up to 15 metric tons per flight. IAG said it expects the expanded offering to be of particular benefit to pharmaceutical shippers, whose market is expected to grow to $3n by 2024. The additions augment the carrier’s existing routes in those markets, improving connections to the 350 destinations on IAG’s global network.
