IAS Unveils New Service for Intermodal Chassis Providers

International Asset Systems (IAS) has introduced ChasssisManager, a service intended to simplify the rental process and maximize asset utilization for chassis providers.

IAS offers a variety of cloud-based services for intermodal transportation and global container shipping. According to the company, ChassisManager helps equipment providers to increase chassis revenues, reduce expenses and ensure a stable supply of assets to meet market demand. The tool comes in the wake of a move by most major ocean carriers to stop providing chassis to truckers. ChassisManager provides a platform for ensuring a smooth transition from the old ocean-carrier provisioning model to one that relies on motor carriers. It draws on IAS's cloud-based infrastructure and InterAsset platform to include a number of chassis-rental functions, including user registration and administration, event management, pre-billing, invoicing and collections. Motor carriers can source chassis on a pay-as-you-go basis, then keep them for multiple moves, reducing terminal congestion, IAS said.
