IBM-Ricoh Joint Venture Launches Mid-Range Impact Printer

InfoPrint Solutions Co., a joint venture between IBM and Ricoh, has developed a new mid-range impact printer. The InfoPrint 4247-L03 complements the company's higher-speed models by offering a lower price, as well as support for integrated Ethernet capability, wide-format printing and remote printer management. It is designed to print on a variety of media, including multi-part and labels, in both climate-controlled and environmentally unpredictable locations. An optional front-feed forms path makes for ease of loading, and a straight-through forms path design allows for maximum feeding reliability, the company said. When configured with the integrated ethernet interface, the remote printer management utility can be used to monitor the real-time status of all printers on the network, as well as configure multiple printers simultaneously. When attention is required, it can send alerts to the appropriate operator, minimizing downtime. A virtual operator panel allows for full-function access via a remote PC. The operator panel features a multilingual LCD display, along with intuitive controls and easy-to-read menus, InfoPrint said.
