LCL Logistix Launches Groupage Service from India to Baltics, CIS

LCL Logistix, the Indian member of the FPS network of independent freight forwarders and non-vessel operating common carriers, has launched a new less-than-containerload service from India to the Baltics and Commonwealth of Independent States.

The service operates from LCL Logistix's container freight station at Nhava Sheva, India's largest container port. It utilizes weekly sailings to Klaipeda, Lithuania's port on the Baltic Sea. Upon arrival, containers are transferred to the capital, Vilnius, where they are broken down and their contents transferred to destination countries. Inland transportation is being handled by LCL Logistix's partner, UAB Transtira, a local transport operator with a fleet of 400 vehicles. Sailing times are 31 days from port to port, with road transfers to the farthest inland destinations taking an additional seven days. According to LCL Logistix, the new service is especially suitable to the needs of the pharmaceuticals sector.
