Carrier Procurement Services from LeanLogistics, a vendor of Web-native transportation-management system (TMS) software, are now available as a standalone offering. The tool helps users to secure better freight rates and service levels by benchmarking against best-in-class averages from the LeanLogistics On-Demand TMS network of more than 20,000 users, 4,000 carriers and 2,000 suppliers, the vendor said. The network processes more than 70,000 shipments per week, generating $4bn in annual transportation expense. The service develops carrier profiles that include number of trucks, trailers, terminal locations and operating regions. It documents request-for-proposal objectives and business requirements. Other features include the standardization of accessorial requirements and charges; electronic issuance of rate, accessorial and contract templates; support for multiple rounds of bids; reviewing of bid results, and identification of total savings generated from the bid event. In addition, customers receive quarterly views of carrier routing-guide compliance and savings generated.
