LLamasoft Launches Transportation Guru for Network Design, Analysis

LLamasoft Inc., a vendor of applications for supply-chain network design, has launched Transportation Guru.

The new tool enables the design and analysis of global transportation networks. It integrates vehicle-routing and mode selection functionality with network optimization and simulation. Logistics professionals can model and optimize their existing transportation networks to identify more efficient mode selection, or design optimal multi-stop routes for inbound, outbound and periodic shipments. In addition, LLamasoft said, they can evaluate new network structures, including the location of greenfield sites, and simulate the cost and service levels of new transportation strategies. Shippers and retailers can identify ideal mode and flow paths for each product or business unit. Predictive analysis determines the optimal flow paths, timing and required capacity. Carriers and third-party logistics providers can boost operating efficiency through improved asset utilization, collaborative moves and market-specific networks, according to LLamasoft.
