Logistics Networks Form ELITE to Represent Independent Forwarders

A new industry body has been formed to represent the independent freight-forwarding sector, with creation of the Elite Association of Logistics Networks.

ELITE counts nine major global logistics networks among its founding members. Together they represent more than 3,550 freight forwarders globally, with annual revenues in excess of $60bn and some 7,000 offices in 188 countries. ELITE will participate alongside major global industry associations, regulators and government agencies. The new group has received the endorsement of the International Air Transport Association. Des Vertannes, IATA's head of global cargo, said ELITE "has the potential to become a powerful and potent voice for freight forwarders around the world." ELITE said it intends to enforce the quality of its logistics networks by maintaining strict membership criteria. The nine networks initially qualifying for membership are the Global Logistics Network, Global Project Logistics Network, Lognet Global, Project Cargo Network, Time Critical Logistics Alliance, Universal Freight Organisation, WCA Family of Logistics Networks, WCA Projects Network and Worldwide Partners Alliance.
