Motorola Solutions Unveils New Line of Hands-Free Mobile Computers

Motorola Solutions, Inc. has developed the HC1 headset computer.

The device is the first in a new series of hands-free mobile computers, utilizing voice recognition, head gestures and video streaming to navigate applications for accessing documents and schematics. The HC1 can be deployed in harsh environments and remote locations, where access to complex graphical data or text is needed, but the use of a laptop or handheld device is impractical without obstructing vision. The unit was designed for field services and the defense, utilities, telecommunications, aerospace and aviation markets. It can be used for maintenance, repair, overhaul, training and simulation applications. The headset draws on the optical micro-display technology platform of Kopin Corp, providing a 15-inch, laptop-size screen.
