Oco BI Solution Helps Welch's Manage Transportation

Oco BI Solution Helps Welch's Manage Transportation
Welch's, the food and consumer packaged goods company, is using its business intelligence solution from Oco to better manage its transportation needs. The solution's new reporting functionality reportedly allows increased collaboration with Welch's transportation carriers, and it provides Welch's with detailed analysis of fuel costs.
"After evaluating other BI products we selected Oco because we wanted a proven solution that will drive a rapid return and can be deployed within weeks," says Bill Coyne, director of purchasing and logistics for Welch's. "We are gaining greater visibility into cost-savings opportunities, which is especially important in light of rising fuel and transportation costs. Additionally, by extending Oco's reporting to our carriers, we are sharing on-time delivery metrics to drive improved customer satisfaction. Oco's intuitive user interface will allow our carriers to easily adopt the system; within our company, we say that it is as easy to use as Google."
Welch's initial deployment of the Oco solution integrated data from three different source systems, including the Oracle E-Business Suite, providing visibility into details about invoices, shipments, orders, and associated costs. The extended solution provides Welch's with a detailed breakdown of fuel and other key transportation charges. Charges can be analyzed by carrier, customer, type of shipped product, shipping lane, geographic area, and mode of transportation.
Additionally, Welch's is rolling out the solution to enable supply chain collaboration with carriers to report on actual delivery performance, a measurement that affects how Welch's is viewed by its own customers.
