Odin Creates RFID-Based Tracking Product for Medical Labs

Odin, a developer of software tied to radio frequency identification (RFID), has developed EasySpecimen, a system to automate tracking and data entry in pathology labs. The passive, RFID-based product draws on patented developments, business processes and best practices refined over the last four years by the Mayo Clinic. Mayo has licensed the patent exclusively to Odin for purposes of specimen tracking. The tool utilizes Odin's RFID operating system software, off-the-shelf passive RFID hardware and tags. Medical centers get an integrative, ubiquitous RFID tracking system for pathology specimen management. Mayo is implementing EasySpecimen across its 42 GI/Colorectal Endoscopy suites and Anatomic Pathology Laboratory on the Rochester, MN campus. According to Odin, use of the new technology will result in a significant reduction in specimen labeling errors and staffing costs. EasySpecimen comes with RFID tracking software based on Odin's EasyEdge software, pad readers for each technician desk, passive RFID specimen tags based on ISO standards, and complete deployment on site. Odin specializes in RFID software and systems for healthcare, IT assets and social media.
