Oil & Gas Giant Uses Technology to Gain Efficiency, Avoid Reconciliation

Challenge: A large oil and gas corporation required a U.S. Customs broker to facilitate the clearance of 60,000 annual entries via rail and truck from Canada to the U.S. The company's complex supply chain included 12 different scenarios involving multiple locations, carriers, commodities, processes, and technology platforms. The customer sought a partner who would reduce manual entry processes, ensure Customs compliance, and streamline communication flow.

Solution: Deringer proposed several solutions to ensure the best fit for the customer's varying supply chain requirements. The customer would use a combination of EDI and our online invoice entry tool to streamline the transmission of data. Common data elements from the eManifest transmission would transfer to the invoice, eliminating redundant keying and entry errors, and carriers would update documentation with actual weights and values via a mobile application to avoid reconciliation.

Results: Client has eliminated the majority of their reconciliation entries, increased Customs compliance, and eliminated most manual processes.

About the Solution Provider: Founded in 1919, Deringer employs more than 450 supply chain professionals.
