Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. has opened its second container-drayage facility in California.

Located at the Port of Oakland, the operation will directly serve all ports, railheads and container yards in the state. The facility is intended to strengthen the carrier's network in California, which also includes a container-drayage facility in Los Angeles and 12 less-than-truckload (LTL) service centers across the state. Old Dominion's container-drayage division saw a 19-percent increase in drayage shipments in 2011, and a 35-percent increase in 2010. Earlier this year, the company opened its first container-drayage facility in the Pacific Northwest. Operations were begun last year in Memphis, Tenn.; Mobile, Ala.; and Baltimore, Md. Old Dominion offers direct service from 15 U.S. cities, in addition to the Oakland location.
