Omni-ID Enhances RFID Tech Platform; Launches Manufacturing & Transportation Suite

Omni-ID, a supplier of passive UHF radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, has devised a new technology platform in line with current RFID product design. With the new platform, Omni-ID tags will be optimized for global frequencies in accordance with EPC Gen 2 protocol, providing functionality across all geographic regions. Updated construction of the tag's plasmonic structure allows for improved scalability, repeatability and higher tolerances, the vendor said. A new coupling structure involves a two-component system which optimizes the use of plasmonics, and a near-field loop antenna design as a coupling structure. The new chip also provides for improved performance and the ability to migrate to high-memory silicon chips. In other company news, Omni-ID has created a new suite of products designed specifically for the manufacturing, transportation and defense industries. Omni-ID's Ultra, Max HD and Max Pro RFID tags are engineered to meet a range of market and customer needs, the company said. The manufacturing and transportation product line draws on the vendor's new technology platform design. The devices can function in harsh and challenging environments that require range, reliability and ruggedization, Omni-ID said.
