PeopleNet Enables Trucker Compliance; Enhances Maptuit Partnership

PeopleNet has introduced a pair of services to help the trucking industry comply with new regulations for the use of electronic onboard recorders (EOBRs). The company is a provider of Web-based and integrated onboard computing and mobile communications systems. Its new products allow users to comply with the CSA 2010 regulations, under which carriers and drivers will be assessed on the most recent 24 months of on-road performance and crash data by the new Safety Measurement System. SMS was designed to identify unsafe driver behavior early. PeopleNet's EOBR is compliant with current safety regulations and will remain so with the recent Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration ruling 395.16. The EOBR bundle is a low-cost fleet-management offering which allows for the electronic logging of drivers' hours of service. The CSA 2010 bundle represents a more comprehensive approach to meeting safety goals, PeopleNet said. It includes additional applications such as onboard event recording, speed gauge, engine fault code monitoring and speed alarms. In a related announcement, PeopleNet has enhanced its partnership with Maptuit Corp., offering navigation technology to improve in-cab efficiencies, reduce out-of-route miles and improve safety. Maptuit is a vendor of truck-specific, connected navigation technology.
