QAD Releases 2007 Version of Enterprise Applications, Adding Functionality for Global Manufacturers

QAD Inc. has made generally available an enhanced version of its software platform for global manufacturers. QAD Enterprise Applications 2007 was formerly known as MFG/PRO. New functionality addresses the needs of both single-site and multinational organizations. Drawing on a service-oriented architecture (SOA), the tool is designed to help users manage supply chains, assets, transportation and logistics. Using the approach of "deployment independence," it is available in three versions: On Premise, based on a traditional license and delivery structure; On Demand, an application-management services offering hosted by QAD, and On Appliance, with software pre-loaded on a machine. A new user interface, known as QAD.NET.UI, makes for easier use and desktop integration, the vendor said. Features include financials, allowing for control of accounting, regulatory compliance and financial reporting at local, regional or global levels; customer management, promoting collaboration with customers; manufacturing, drawing on new manufacturing scheduling techniques, including Lean adoption; supply chain, including transportation and demand management; service and support for after-sales processes, and analytics, so that companies can measure business performance in key areas.
