RedPrairie & Universal Power Group

Universal Power Group, a provider of third-party logistics and supply chain management services and a global distributor of batteries, security products and related portable power products, is implementing RedPrairie's warehouse management, visibility and scorecard solutions at three distribution facilities in Dallas, Oklahoma City and Las Vegas.

The solutions should give UPG the ability to offer increasingly complex services for customers and provide network-wide visibility-including web-portal based order visibility-so customers can track the status of orders while in process. They will also enable UPG to support sophisticated vendor-managed inventory programs, tracking and controlling customer-owned inventory seamlessly.

"We'll now be able to provide our customers a more robust portfolio of supply chain solutions, such as the ability to capture and manage performance metrics, as well as improved inventory management and visibility throughout the supply chain," says Randy Hardin, CEO of UPG. "An integral part of our growth strategy is to attract and retain new customers by offering our customers the tools that they need to improve their competitive position in the marketplace. With the implementation of RedPrairie's warehouse management system, we believe we are now better positioned to execute on this strategy."

UPG's range of product offerings include proprietary brands of industrial and consumer batteries of all chemistries, chargers, related portable power products, 12-volt DC accessories, and security products such as alarm panels, perimeter controls, speakers, sirens, and more.
