Spot Market Van Loads Strong During Thanksgiving Week

During the short Thanksgiving week, TransCore saw strong load postings for vans on the DAT Network.  If Thursday had been a normal work day, with an average number of loads posted, the total loads would have exceeded the previous week's volume by 8 percent.

As it was, actual van load posts dipped by 13 percent from November 21 - 27,  but the spot freight market usually sees a decline of at least 20 percent in posting activity - consistent with the "missing" day.

Consequently, the load-to-truck ratio for dry vans increased by 12 percent, from 2.23 to 2.50 available loads per truck, compared to the previous week.

Equipment postings declined by 23 percent, which is in the expected range for a holiday week.
