Tagsys Develops New Family of RFID Tags for Item-Level Tracking

Tagsys, a vendor of radio frequency identification (RFID) infrastructure, has developed a new family of ultra-high-frequency (UHF) tags designed for item-level track-and-trace applications. The TRAK family features technology that reduces RFID "shadowing" and "detuning," to guarantee read accuracy and maintain data integrity on an item level, the company said. Shadowing and detuning result when one tag in proximity to another blocks the signal from a reader antenna. The new Tagsys design supports applications that require item proximity, such as stacked folders and packaged bottles. Each of the four new UHF tags is optimized for specific item-level application environments: DocTRAK for situations where the near-contact of stacked items is unavoidable; RapidTRAK for close, omni-directional reading of hanging items on racks or stacked items at retail point of sale; SureTRAK for high-volume supply-chain applications and fast inventory environments when multiple paper items are stacked closely together, and RxTRAK for reading small items that are tightly packed in boxes or totes such as those used in pharmaceutical supply chains.
