TEC Says Market is Right to Buy ERP, but Lists Ways to Avoid 'ERP Disaster'

Technology Evaluation Centers says there has never been a better time for companies that are still using spreadsheets to manage their business to be shopping for an ERP system. "Virtually all leading enterprise software vendors are clamoring for your-business-and ready to meet your high expectations and a low budget," it says.

TEC offers a free comparison center that allows potential buyers to compare over 50 leading ERP systems designed for small business, as well as free downloads of ERP and SaaS buyers' guides.

But selecting the right ERP system is only half the battle. Achieving a successful implementation is equally important.

To that end, TEC analyst Gabriel Gheorghiu offers 13 ways to avoid an ERP implementation disaster. He points out that vendors usually get the blame for ERP implementation failures, "but I do not think that an ERP implementation failure can possibly happen without at least some contribution from the customer," he says. Gheorghiu lists things a customer should consider before selecting an ERP as well as during the implementation and even long after. "I have selected 13, because ERP selection and implementation has nothing to do with luck," he says.
