Trade Industry Benchmarking Results Show Increase in Export Shipments

President Barack Obama's goal of doubling U.S. exports by 2015 appears to be gaining traction, according to results from an annual benchmarking survey conducted by the American Association of Exporters and Importers (AAEI). Highlights of the 2010 AAEI Benchmarking Survey are available on the AAEI web site.

The 2010 results show biggest gain is among the number of companies shipping 5,000 to 25,000 shipments per year. They went up from 37 percent in 2009 to 54 percent in 2010. The results also show a shift of more than 30 percent in the additional time trade compliance professionals are spending on export controls. The number who said they spend almost all of their time on export controls - more than 95 percent of it - doubled in one year.

"The results reflect the shift of time that trade compliance professionals are devoting to export controls," says AAEI President and CEO Marianne Rowden.

AAEI is conducting its online 2011 Benchmarking Survey, which is open to all importers, exporters and service providers. The deadline for this year's survey is May 20, 2011. The full results will be available for free to all respondents who complete the survey.
