Today’s warehouses are seen as cost centres, whereby inefficiencies in warehousing lead to loss of customers as well as businesses losing money. The need for efficiency has become a key factor in managing supply chain while application of lean principles are critical to minimize costs of warehousing while meeting customer demand. Warehouse managers must ensure that inefficiency is resolved before they realize that this is something that they cannot afford.
Warehousing plays an important role as every industry needs some amount of warehousing. However, many discussions imply that the Warehouse sector is underrepresented - as there are very few events that target the warehousing sector specifically. The Australia warehousing market feels that there is a need to have specific programmes/ forums to allow companies to exchange insights and facilitate the exchange of best practices with other experienced leading local and international organizations rather than just generic logistics and supply chain events.
In response to this, Marcus Evans is pleased to announce the Lean Warehouse event - which will be held from June 16th to 18th 2014 in Melbourne, Australia. The event will be an elite gathering of top management heads and professionals of FMCG, F&B, Manufacturing, Retail, Productions and Supply Chain. Lean Warehouse is proudly endorsed by Supply Chain Council, the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport Australia (CILTA), World Freight Network Ltd (WFN) and Specialist Freight Networks.
The Lean Warehouse conference will be structured over a course of 3 days showcasing 8 successful case studies from the region and 2 full day workshops facilitated by Ken Miesemer CPIM CIRM who is a Senior Consultant of Institute St Onge Company, USA focusing on Supply Chain improvement projects. Other key topics will highlight issues that are relevant to Australia’s Market such as Lean Warehousing which helps to enhance warehouse performance within constrained time and resources, Inventory Control to minimize losses and damages of goods and Automation to increase productivity by using the right automation.
