PeopleNet, a provider of internet-based onboard computing and mobile communications systems for truck-fleet management, has created a North American Service Network of third-party service centers. Members of the network are certified to install and service PeopleNet systems. Customers can now schedule service at any of 34 centers across North America, instead of having to wait until vehicles return to their terminals or customary service centers. The setup is available to all PeopleNet customers, although those joining the PeopleNet Service Program for a monthly fee per truck will have their repair labor costs covered. Service Program members will receive a 5-percent discount on installation and removal charges. They will also receive priority appointments, within 48 hours for shop visits and 72 hours for on-site visits. All billing goes through PeopleNet.
