MIKOH Transport Solution Designed for Transit Security Needs of Government

Global Logistics & Supply Chain Strategies | April 25, 2008

MIKOH Corporation says its Smart&Secure Transport solution provides certainty for assets shipped through government transport.

Many government entities now require RFID tags to track and trace critical assets shipped from location to location. Smart&Secure Transport provides physical security certainty for government RFID requirements by combining MIKOH’s Smart&Secure platform with its SecureContainer and SecureEnclosure product lines.

“MIKOH is known throughout the government market for its unique ability to solve RFID physical security issues,” says Andrew Strauch, vice president of marketing and product management for MIKOH Corporation. “With Smart&Secure Transport, government organizations can be certain that critical assets, such as weapons and classified documents, remain uncompromised without physically monitoring the assets every step of the way.”

Smart&Secure Transport targets government markets where critical assets are vulnerable to compromise, including tampering, counterfeiting and fraud. The solution creates a tamper-evident seal that disables RFID functionality if tampering occurs. A functioning RFID tag indicates the asset has not been compromised. A more advanced version alerts an RFID reader that the tag has been compromised without disabling RFID functionality, enabling ongoing retrieval of data stored in the tag.

The company’s SecureContainer is a reusable container featuring a unique closure system. The SecureEnclosure product is based on intellectual property licensed from the U.S. National Security Agency. The closure mechanism consists of reusable housings that bolt onto existing transport containers. Disposable plastic inserts slide into the housings to create a seal, which can then be secured by Smart&Secure RFID tags.
