Nippon Express Launches Mekong Land Bridge Between Hanoi and Bangkok
Nippon Express | May 07, 2008
Nippon Express has developed a new road-transport service linking Hanoi, Vietnam with Bangkok, Thailand. The Mekong Land Bridge Express will ship goods between the two cities in three days, utilizing the "East-West Corridor" between Da Nang, Vietnam and Mawlamyaing, Myanmar. Currently the principal modes of transport in that corridor are air and marine, with door-to-door moves over water taking 14 days. Nippon Express is also providing services that incorporate containers with the same specifications as marine cargo containers, to meet the demand for high-volume transport. Launching of the service marks completion of the last Thailand-Vietnam section of SS7000, a designation by Nippon Express that refers to a 7,000-kilometer route connecting businesses served by the company's logistics centers in Shanghai and Singapore. The long haul transport route traverses six national borders.
