Descartes Launches Services to Support New Customs Regs and Standards

Descartes Systems Group has launched several services to support new customs regulations and compliance standards in the U.S. and Mexico. They include Ocean AMS (Automated Manifest System) for Mexico, Import2000 Terminal Service, and Multilingual ACE (Automated Commercial Environment) for Truckers. Descartes said it is also enhancing its Global Logistics Network Customs Compliance software suite to help customers comply with the upcoming "10+2" data-filing rule of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The new and enhanced services are applications of Descartes' Global Logistics Network (GLN) Customs Compliance Suite. The tool helps to automate, manage and streamline the shipment process from source to consumer, providing real-time visibility along the way. Descartes' focus, the vendor said, is to standardize a set of business processes across a broad community of participants, including airlines, freight forwarders, inspection agencies, trucking companies, ocean carriers and customs brokers. Ocean AMS for Mexico helps ocean carriers and non-vessel operating common carriers to comply with a new regulation on the electronic filing of manifests with Mexican Customs, 24 hours prior to vessel departure from the origin port. Import2000 Terminal helps marine container terminals and ocean carriers learn in real time when containers have been released from the port by CBP. Multilingual ACE-4-Trucks allows truckers electronically to submit waybill and trip information directly to CBP, in advance of shipment arrivals at the U.S. border.
