The service is now available in 13 markets across the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. According to FedEx, the option is of special benefit to the healthcare industry. Built by NanoCool, the system achieves a temperature of 4 degrees C in less than five minutes, without the use of gel packs or dry ice. A cooling system evaporates water over time, with the process activated by the push of a button inside the box. The lighter packaging weighs less than half of some gel-pack systems, FedEx claimed. The system offers regulatory compliance for both infectious substances and non-infectious clinical samples. The packaging can be used in combination with the SenseAware technology and FedEx Priority Alert services.
