Manhattan Associates Offers Labor-Forecasting App for Distribution Managers

Manhattan Associates, Inc. has released a software application for labor forecasting and optimization, designed specifically to meet the needs of distribution managers. Embedded in the vendor's Labor Management Solution (LMS), the new tool allows users to forecast the number of employees required to perform estimated work down to the day, shift, job and zone level. It takes historical volumes and translates them into labor forecasts, permitting distribution managers to balance regular, overtime and temporary labor, especially during peak seasons. The LMS can also identify where shortages or overages exist, and issue alerts in advance so that managers can take corrective action. By predicting the need for temporary workers, users can eliminate premiums for immediate staffing while scheduling shifts that make best use of employees' time, Manhattan said. The vendor's other application suites address planning and forecasting, inventory optimization, order lifecycle management, and transportation lifecycle management.
