Mojix Issues Updated Version of Passive RFID Reader

Mojix Inc. has made generally available a new version of its STAR 300 System, offering real-time tracking capabilities for supply chains.

According to the vendor, the enhanced product provides the benefits of active radio frequency identification performance with passive RFID economics. Its architecture is based on developments in digital radio design derived from deep-space communication exploration. The wide-area, passive RFID reader delivers "wall-to-wall" tag visibility, Mojix said. It can locate passive RFID sensors in large areas with coverage in excess of 200,000 square feet, and can read and locate an RFID tag at distances of up to 600 feet. It processes the RFID signal in multiple dimensions, including polarization and space, in addition to the time and frequency dimensions used by legacy RFID systems. The technology also provides a single data-collection point which supports both cabled and wireless eNode devices, indoors and outdoors. A Master Controller processes and manages raw RFID data from multiple STAR systems supporting the EPCglobal Standard Application Layer Events (ALE) interface.
