UPS Launches Service for Greater Control of Home Deliveries

UPS has introduced UPS My Choice, a new service intended to give consumers greater control over home deliveries. The offering provides delivery alerts, specific delivery time frames, reroute options, visibility tools and electronic signature release, all on the day before arrival. It can be accessed through the ups.com website, either through a computer or mobile phone. In the process, UPS said, the company has increased the likelihood of a successful delivery on the first attempt. Customers can choose between two levels of membership. They will receive phone, e-mail or text alerts, notifying them a day in advance of when packages are due to arrive, and providing a four-hour window for the delivery. They will also have the option of electronically releasing packages that require a signature. For a $5 transaction fee, they can reroute a package to another delivery address, or have it delivered to the nearest UPS Store location. Premium membership, available for a $40 annual subscription, adds access to an online delivery calendar which shows the status of UPS home deliveries. Premium members are also offered a two-hour confirmed delivery window. A $5 transaction fee is charged only upon successful delivery of the package within the two-hour commitment.
