RedPrairie is launching its Duty Management 2009.1 application, in line with the standardization of excise duty calculations by the United Kingdom's HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) agency. The government action will create new guidelines for beers, wines, cider, spirits and low-alcohol beverages, to take effect in June of this year. Duty Management, RedPrairie's software for international trade and customs operations, allows companies to delay payment of all duties and value-added taxes until the latest possible time, usually after the goods have left the warehouse. Regular releases are available to all users, allowing them to keep current with the latest U.K. customs requirements and industry developments. The tool is fully integrated with RedPrairie's Warehouse Management application. The new initiative by HMRC implements electronic Alcohol and Tobacco Warehouse Declarations, replacing existing paper forms. The Duty Management system will automatically send those declarations directly to the HMRC system. RedPrairie customers will also be able to hold Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certificate details in the system, and include them in declarations to HMRC. The 2009.1 version can enter a pre-advice of receipt to the warehouse, to complement the current enquiry and order-entry capabilities. A warehouse-management and e-fulfillment module is also built into the system. An existing bulk module includes a full invoicing suite to charge for the receipt, handling, processing and storage of bulk goods in vats or casks.
