Advance International Transport, a freight forwarder and project-shipping specialist, is offering carriers access to additional equipment for the movement of over-dimension and out-of-gauge cargoes in China. The company is taking delivery of 2,400 new 40-foot open top and flat rack containers. The first 200 units of the order, which are being leased from Triton Container International Ltd., are now available from various container manufacturers in China, near Ningbo and Shanghai, the company said. Jawad Kamel, president and chief executive officer of Advance International, noted a "tremendous" shortage of special container equipment in China for oversized cargo. He said the company would prefer not to reposition leased, empty units to container storage depots around the world. It would rather give operators the chance to use the new equipment at rates and conditions agreed to before delivery, on a case-by-case basis.
