RedPrairie Corp. has integrated build-to-order manufacturing capabilities, intended for complex sequencing, into its E2e supply-chain execution software suite. The move makes available build-to-order, just-in-time line sequencing, error-proofing and traceability, originally developed for the automotive industry, to makers of other complex products, including electronics, computers, glass, windows and doors. The new software tracks component levels, revision levels, expiration and code dates for recall traceability, warranty processing, returns disposition and repair forecasting. The capabilities are fully integrated into RedPrairie's WMS (warehouse-management system) and complement existing tools for kitting, de-kitting, light assembly and the processing of returns and repairs. Seamless integration with configurable workflows is made possible by the fact that RedPrairie applications share a granular inventory model which tracks item attributes, the vendor said.
