The company has purchased BearWare, Inc., a U.S.-based provider of mobile systems for improving collaboration between retailers and logistics service providers. BearWare's mobile technology scans cartons at each point, from distribution center to the storefront. It also supports pool distribution, helping to minimize store disruptions caused by unconsolidated direct shipments from suppliers and retailer distribution centers. Cash purchase price of the deal was $11.25m. Descartes also announced the acquisition of MK Data Services LLC, a U.S.-based provider of denied-party screening trade data and software. MK Data's technology screens shipments against a comprehensive, frequently updated international database of restricted parties. It uses proprietary matching algorithms, the sensitivity of which can be adjusted by customers in line with their individual risk concerns, to flag potential compliance issues. MK Data's content supports global trade management systems, and can also be integrated with customer relationship management and enterprise resource planning applications. The purchase price for the MK Data acquisition was approximately $76.3m in cash, plus the assumption of some $7.2m of continent and other cash payment liabilities.
