No supply chain has been sheltered from the slew of logistics challenges over the past two and a half years, but small and medium-sized businesses have been hit especially hard. A North American logistics giant is offering them a free tool to help source capacity and manage shipments.
A new transportation management system — or “TMS lite” — from Transportation Insight Holding Co. gives SMBs access to the company’s network of 80,000 carriers and features such as instant quoting, simplified order creation, rate comparison, automated tendering, tracking and financial tools. Shippers can also onboard their own carriers into the product with flexible integration.
The TMS comes with support from Transportation Insight (TI) and Nolan Transportation Group’s (NTG) team of 2,500 professionals, who utilize the platform to manage over $15 billion in logistics spend across all modes — including drayage, truckload, less-than-truckload, expedited, final mile and parcel.
“This free TMS was built for an underserved market we specialize in, the small-to-mid-sized shipper, giving them intelligent technology to better utilize their own carrier network while also tapping into our larger network providing scale and density, with data and intelligence to make smarter, more informed decisions,” said Geoff Kelley, president and chief operating officer of TI Holding Company, in a statement.
The tool is available within TI and NTG’s Beon Shipper suite. Its launch will be followed later this year by a multimodal enterprise version with more robust feature functionality, including visibility and control across the first, middle and final mile.
