RedPrairie Corp. has added a number of features to its transportation management system (TMS) software. The additions are aimed specifically at international users. They include ocean, rail and air-based multimodal transportation support; time-based transit service standards, and enhanced geocoding. They are intended to allow transport by means other than roads, including barge and ferry travel over ocean or short sea. The new release accounts for a number of factors associated with international trade logistics, including time-zone changes, support for single and multiple contract multimodal shipment planning, and extended European mapping and distance calculations. The features will enable intra-European shipment optimization, providing more flexible options for conducting such movements, RedPrairie said. The release's global map and guide support allows customers to encode regions made up of locations as broad as multiple states, or as specific as given address IDs.
