Next Generation Logistics, Inc. (NGL), a provider of managed freight services, transportation-management system (TMS) software and supply-chain consulting, has added SmartWay functionality to its FreightMaster TMS suite. The SmartWay Transport Partnership is a voluntary program designed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to help reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions resulting from transportation. In support of the initiative, NGL has launched the new version 4.7 release of its FreightMaster TMS Suite. The software is a "best-of-breed" tool for all major enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, including Microsoft Dynamics. The enhancement will allow customers of NGL's managed services and the FreightMaster TMS Suite to track and report SmartWay-required metrics, and measure their environmental performance for their transportation movements. According to NGL, the added features within the FreightMaster TMS Suite can improve operating efficiencies through the proper scheduling of pickups and deliveries. In the process, companies can reduce idle time and improve truckload consolidations and planning.
